[1 Corinthians 7:28 KJV] “But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you”.
Many years ago I was told by an older man to hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I have never found a greater wisdom when facing uncertainty and taking risk as this. I hope to find a greater wisdom one day though.
As bitter and negative as the Scripture may sound, it is the reality on the ground. Those who marry have some trouble in the flesh. Indeed entering into marriage is like opening a pandora box. It is taking risk of no return till death or unfaithfulness. Hence the need to refrain from entering into it untill you are properly been counseled. We are adviced not to enter into marriage unadvisedly. In fact, it is important to seek the proper counsel before even venturing into a relationship.
Remember, we all hope for the best but are prepared for the worst. It is a for better or worst deal. Though the marriage vows don’t mean a thing because people of our day are trucebreakers, the vows reflect the reality that would confront you. You would have to love, cherish and nourish one another in the worst scenarios and times of your life. There is no two ways about that.
What are the three simple factors that can help you to enjoy your marriage?
- The right partner
- The right attitude
- The right mind set
These are the 3 simple factors that lead to joy and success in marriage. Your partner, your attitude, and your mindset matters a lot in marriage. If you marry the wrong person, you cannot express your good nature.
May the Lord guide and lead you to the right kind of partner! May you cultivate the right attitudes! May you continue to mature and renew your mind after the nature of the new man!
- The right kind of man for a christian woman is a man who is focussed and determined to look like Christ.
- The right kind of a woman for a Christian man is one who is determined to look like Sarah.
- The right mindset is to have the mind that was in Christ; though you know that being equal is not robbery, yet you humble yourself one to another, even to death on the cross.
I believe that with the right partner, right attitude, and right mindset, our relationships and marriages will work better. You must settle for nothing less. We must press on and press in in faith.
There is nothing as catastrophic as settling for the wrong partner. It is a non-starter. Inasmuch as it is true that the best of people can grow worse, it is a still non-starter to settle for the wrong partner. You must strive to find the right partner.
