Take Responsibility for Your Salvation

“And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
(16) And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
(17) And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
(18) And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
(19) Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
(20) And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel” [See also 1 Corinthians 1:17 downwards]

The piece of Scripture we just read is a part of a story that is told of how our Lord Jesus delivered a man who was so possessed by devils that rendered him insane. Inasmuch as there are many causes of mental illness, demonic possession and oppression is one of the causes. The Bible tells us that, there was a man in the region of the Gadarenes who was possessed and controlled by demons until Jesus liberated him. The Bible tells us that when the citizens came and saw him fully restored and that their herd of swine had been drowned, they persuaded Jesus Christ to leave their coast.

Many people care about their pigs more than they care about your freedom.

I want to start my delivery from the end of the story. Remember that many people care about their pigs more than your freedom. They would rather have a herd of pigs than for you to be free. Think! Wise up! Wake up! Many people do not really care. You must therefore work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

1. We must desire an encounter with the master Jesus:

We must come to the Master and not just to church. We must come hoping and believing God for a touch that would change our lives. Our hunger and faith is so important for a breakthrough.

2. We must run to the Lord in prayer:

We must come and commit our burden to Him in prayer. Prayer is the key. Many of us are looking up to many things and people for help but God. It is time to arise and seek Him in prayer, sincere prayer.

3. Be yielded, teachable, and tutorable:

Many of us are so arrogant that we take many of our private meetings with the anointing and anointed for granted. The devil moves us to think that the man sent to deliver us is rather the one hurting us. Some of us think that the person God sent our way is rather our problem. Be careful how you treat the person God sent to you because your miracle is connected to Him as vessel sent to you.

Today, we have got to change our minds and be yielded, teachable, and helpable. God wants to save your community, and you are the agent to be employed. The Lord would therefore want to give each one of us a testimony to share with friends and family. God wants the world saved, and He shall save the world by the foolishness of our preaching. But many of us cannot share our faith, but we can share our testimony. Therefore God wants to give you a testimony so that you can share it to bring in your friends and family to the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. We must be hungry and desirous of these miracles that would give us testimonies.
