[Genesis 15:1-7 KJV] “After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. And Abram said, Lord God , what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord ; and he counted it to him for righteousness. And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give thee this land to inherit it”.
The joy and satisfaction of every man is to have seeds who can inherit and preserve his name and course. However, many fathers are bitter and heart-broken because of the women they loved and the seeds they got from God. Many men have had their hopes crushed. Most women and the children they bear have disappointed them. Many fathers feel accused and judged by these important people in their lives – the women they love and seeds from their loins.
It is my prayer that God will heal the hearts and lives of every broken man. May the Lord heal these broken brothers! We have to pray always for fathers, husbands and brothers who are so heart-broken and bitter. Let us spend this week to strengthen and honour our fathers.
Simple steps to honour and fulfill your father are;
Admit that you are a seed which God gave to your father:
And decide to honour and preserve his name and cause. It is my prayer that the Lord shall give every man his own seeds; none shall die childless. God will give you seeds from your own loins.
See your father’s business as your neccessary food and prepare for it:
See Luke 2:48-50 and John 4:34-38. You must start preparing early for your fathers business. Jesus Christ by age 12years was committed to His father’s business. Many fathers are disappointed because their children did not prepare themselves to preserve their names amd cause.
Hallow your father’s name and your own seeds shall hallow your name:
Your seeds shall defend your name and fight anybody who tries desecrate it. How do we hallow our father’s name? By a committment not to do anything that will smear his name with dishonour.
Protect your father’s bed and your seeds shall protect yours.
The big constrast between Ish-boseth and Reuben was their attitude towards their fathers concubines. You shall not ascend to thy father’s bed nor couch upon it. Saul’s son confronted those who defiled his father concubines but Reuben went into his father’s bed.
[2 Samuel 3:7 KJV]
“And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ish-bosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father’s concubine?”
[Genesis 35:22 KJV] “And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:”
Cover your father’s shame and your seeds shall cover your shame:
Noah had an expectation of his children, he expected his sons to cover up his shame even if he was silly and drunk. Your children will defend you!
Honour your father and preserve his name and course even after his death: Your seeds shall honour you all the days of your life and even after your departure. You must teach the doctrine of your father and speak about your father with awe.
Your honour will heal and strengthen the heart of your father. Be there for him and make his heart glad.
