Today I want to share with you three things about the need to find a hiding place in God.
It is important to understand that there is something pursuing and seeking to devour anyone under the heavens.
There is evil out there seeking to devour every man everywhere. Revelation 12 informs us of a red dragon whose tail drew a third of the stars who is here on Earth with great wrath to wage war against the remnant of the woman’s seed and against those who keep the command and word of God.
John 10:9-10 teaches about a thief who “comes not but for to steal, kill and destory”. 1 Peter 5:8 informs of us an “adversary who is going about roaring as a lion, seeking whom he may devour”. The apostles therefore encourages us to “be sober, be vigilant, and resist him steadfastly”. The devil is out for someone, he does not have anyone’s name in mind. He just attacks anybody he meets; that is why you must resist him. The Bible says; “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world”. [1 Peter 5:8-9 KJV]
Whether you read the Bible or not does matter. Even the World Health Organisation tells us clearly that there is something out that hurts, that’s why when you are born, you are vaccinated and when you are travelling, you get vaccinated.
The second fact to remember is the fact that you can find a hiding place in God;
Listen, there is evil out there seeking to hurt you; but you can find a hiding place in God. Everyone is trying to find shelter from the stormy blast of life. Some work all their lives because they want to escape poverty, some date multiple people because they want to escape loneliness, some kill and back bite because they want to escape competition but there is only one wise thing to do; find a hiding place in God.
Proverbs 18:10 teaches that “the name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and they are safe”. The name of the Lord is a strong tower; a tower of refuge and a hiding place. But how do you find this strong tower?
Deuteronomy 12:5-6 teaches that there is a place the Lord has chosen to put His name. The man of God Moses taught Israel to seek that place where the Lord their God shall put His name. This Scripture assures and enlightens us to understand that the Lord shall choose and put His name in certain places which we must seek. But 1 kings 14:21 and 2 Chronicles 12:13 reveals that one of such places where God chose was Jerusalem. In the New Testament such a place is anywhere we choose to gather for fellowship.
When you find that hiding place, you will find safety;
The Bible tells us that the place where we choose to gather, where the Lord shall put His name is as Zion (as Jerusalem). Hebrew 12:18-29 explains the nature of our assembly when we gather in church. We have come to the church of the son of God. Obadiah 1:17 teaches that “upon this mount Zion there shall be deliverance, there shall be holiness, and the house of Jacob shall possess teir possessions”.
You can access this realm of deliverance, holiness, and possessing of possessions, when we restore decency and order to the House of God. 1 Samuel 19:20 narrates that when King Saul sent messengers to go arrest David, they we unable to do it because David had taken refuge and cover under the name of the Lord. We can also walk in this same blessing when we learn to do all things in church descently and orderly.
Zion represents descency and order (See 1 Cor 14:40). Everything must be done descently and orderly if we want to walk in the same realm of deliverance, holiness and possessing of possessions. So how do we walk in the grace of Obadiah 1:17, and restore decency and order to the house of God?;
1. We must set up our meetings and meeting place to reflect the beauty of God’s holiness.
Our meeting and meeting places are meeting points with divinty. God is everywhere but the name of the Lord is in a place where He chooses to place it. We must not take gathering together for granted at all. (See Hebrews 10:25)
2. Attend all meetings with expectancy, thanksgiving, and praise in your heart:
You must come by faith, gratitude, and cheerfulness.
3. Groom and grow with grace and poise:
Know how to possess your vessel in honour.
4. Stop the 5 things that destory the church:
Lusting after evil things, idolatry, debating against the word of God, fornication, and murmuring (See 1 Corinthians 10:1-10)
5. Allow the pastor to stand as appointed and to speak God’s word to teach you, and not what you think:
The company of the prophets prophesied as Samuel stood as appointed. (See 1 Samuel 19:20)
May decency and order be restored to our gatherings as we walk in these 5 secrets. May you always find a hiding place in the house of God.
I love you; stay blessed!
