[Philippians 2:12-16 KJV] “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain”.
Without doubt or any need for a complex argument corruption has become the world greates canker. Corruption is an albatross that hangs around our neck. We live in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. This generation is untoward, so unpredictable and awkward. We are surround by a dark unpredictable world, yet we are called to shine as light among them.
This exhortation is about finding workable ways to shine as lights in a crooked and preverse generation. The three simple keys to shine as lights in a crooked and perverse generation is to;
Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling:
To save your self from this untoward generation (See Acts 2:40-41). To come out from among them and not conform to their patterns and standards (See Roman 12:1-2).
Reach out to the lost, the brethren, and to others:
We are surrounded by a hurting and broken world and we cannot pretend we don’t care. We have a calling to help and heal the hurt and broken world.
Raise others to be like you:
See 2 Timothy 2:2 and Matthew 28:18-20. We are called to teach the nations to do what we have been taught to do. You must find creative ways of teaching others, through mentorship, conferencing, campmeetings, apprenticeship, discipleship, network, masterclass, church services, videos, arts, etc.
This is our calling and we must run accordingly. None of us can fail. We must win and shine as lights in a crooked and perverse nation, among whom we shine as lights.
