Set Your Affections on Things Above

[Colossians 3:1‭-‬2 KJV] “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth”.

We all know that we are called and alive to preach the gospel to every creature. This is the single most important reason for our existence. We are risen with Christ Jesus from the dead and seated together with Him in heavenly places. We are called to preach the gospel, to start local church meetings, ordain elders, confirm the souls of the disciples, and to commend them to God and to the word of His grace. What most of us don’t know is that this assignment is no child’s play. It is demanding and involving but rewarding.

One of the key things that will help us to discharge this duty is to set our minds on things above, where Christ is seated. Most earthly things are fashional. They fade away with time. Most earthly things don’t last; only the things above will stand the test of time. He that is from above is above all. When you think heavenly, you will act heavenly. When you set your love and mind and heart on things that are above your attitudes and behaviour will be above the norm.

It is my desire that everyone of us will seek the things that are above – where Christ is seated. I pray that those things shall excite us. I pray that you will not just be running after earthly things like lip gloss and mascara, fancy dresses, cars houses and wealth. May the Lord help us to seek after eternal rewards. May we seek the rewards which come with being a soul winner! May we seek after eternal things!

This is one of the master keys to being prepared and able to go into the world and preach the gospel. The earth is passing away and everything in it too. Nothing that is earthly is durable. Everything earthly will not last. May we seek after those things that are above! None of us will miss it; we shall make it the way God would have us make it.
