[Philippians 4:8-9 KJV] “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you”.
We have learnt that we stand in the midst of a raging battle, and the battlefield is the mind. Most of the battles are centered in the mind. The devil tries to control and manipulate the mind to stop your advancement. The Bible says, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. The quality of your thoughts therefore determine the quality of your life. You win big when you think big; you go fast when you think fast. The battlefield is your mind. We will win when we win in the mind first.
The Scripture we just read teaches the indicators of a virtuous and praiseworthy mindset. This Scripture teaches how to determine what things to focus your thoughts on. Whatsoever you think on must be;
1. True:
Many of us lose the battle against darkness and evil because we focus on things that are not true. We love deception and falsehood because that feels good and soothing. The secret to winning this invisible war is to boldly admit the truth and walk in the newness of life.
2. Honest:
Honesty is the second key to winning in life over evil. If you lie to yourself, you will be cheating yourself out of a breakthrough. You must think honestly. Don’t tickle yourself and laugh.
3. Just:
Your thoughts must be just; it must reflect equity and righteousness. Don’t allow the devil to bombard your mind with unjust thoughts. For instance, don’t think of reaping where you have not sown. Don’t focus on how you can cheat someone. Such thoughts lead to poverty and failure.
4. Pure
5. Lovely and
6. Of a good report
These are the six (6) quality of a virtuous and praiseworthy thinking. Whenever thoughts drop in your mind, you must question whether or not these thoughts are true, honest, pure, just, lovely, or of a good report. Your thought life will eventually affect every aspect of your life. What you think on will determine what you say and understand.
May the Lord help us to focus our thoughts on the right things for fruitful living! May the Lord fill your mind with beautiful thoughts and transform your life!
Be blessed, I love you!
