[Mark 16:15-20 KJV] “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
[17] And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
[19] So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. [20] And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them , and confirming the word with signs following. Amen”.
Signs are indicators or tokens that authenticate beliefs. Five of such signs of believe or faith in the gospel are:
- Casting out devils.
- Speaking with new tongues.
- Taking up serpents.
- Immunity to deadly poison.
- Laying hands on the sick.
When people belive as we have believed; they would be free from demonic harrassment, speak with the tongue of God, discern serpents, manifest eternal life, and lay hands on the sick.

God is committed to work signs and wonders, because if you take the power out of the gospel, what is left is a lame philosophy that cannot save. The manifestations of signs and wonders does the following;
1. Signs disarm the power of darkness and liberate us:
Pharoah would not let Israel go out of Egypt until the signs and wonders began to swallow him up (See Exodus 7:3, Jeremiah 32:20-21)
2. Signs establish the righteous and give an anchor to our faith:
In 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, we learn that the manifestation of signs and power helps our faith to be built in the power of God and not in the wisdom of men.
3. Signs confirm the gospel and emboldens the preacher:
[Hebrews 2:3-4 KJV] “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him ; [4] God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
When the early church faced persecution, they prayed that the Lord would stretch forth His hand and heal the sick and work miracles (See Acts 4:29-30; 2 Cor 12:12).
4. Sign establishes divine authority:
By these mighty acts of the supernatural, the authority of God is established among men.
This is our season of signs and wonders. May the Lord show Himself strong and cause us to truimph.
