[Ruth 1:19-22 KJV] “So they two went until they came to Beth–lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth–lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi? And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me? So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Beth–lehem in the beginning of barley harvest”.
Many years ago, a godly woman and her family moved from Bethlehem to a place called Moab. She went out full to preserve what she had, but she ended up losing everything. Then after a while, she heard that God had visited the people of Bethlehem, and she decided to return.
It was at this time that somebody called her Naomi, and she retorted, ” call me not Naomi, call me Mara (which means bitters) because I went out full and came back empty.”
Sometimes, as we go through life, we face bitter challenges, but that should not define our lives and future. I want to exhort you with three simple secrets to effective living I have learnt from a seasoned man of God, Rod Parsley. He said;
- Learn from the past
- Live in the moment
- Plan for the future
At every single time, there is the interplay of three things: the past, the present, and the future. The past and the present impacts the future. In other words, what you have been through and what you are going through will determine how you face what you have to go through. Your past and present will have an effect on your future. I pray that you will learn and drop the past, live in the moment, and plan for your future.
The only thing Naomi ought to do is not to change her name, but rather to learn from her past, live in her present, and plan for the future. To live in the present is to live in the moment. God is not through with us yet. There is more in the future.
The question, however, is, how do I live my life now to be able to face tomorrow confidently?.
The simple secret to living effectively today to impact on tomorrow is to answer the simple question, what actions can I take today as a step into tomorrow. Today’s actions must be a launching pad into the future. Whatever you are doing today must feed into tomorrow. If your actions of today does not lead into the starting point of tomorrow, then you must be careful.
May the Lord keep and sustain you. May He take you far and prepare you for the next level. My the Lord guide your actions today to feed into your aspirations of tomorrow. May the Almighty guide and keep you. Be blessed!
I love you;
