[Galatians 3:1-5 KJV] “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? [2] This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”
[3] “Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? [4] Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. [5] He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”
If you don’t abound in the Spirit as you first started, then you are either foolish, bewitched, or backsliden. The Lord wants us to abound more and more in the Spirit-filled life.
[1 Thessalonians 4:1 KJV] “Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more”.
There is a way and manner in which each man comes to believe. The church in Thessalonica came to believe by the power of God and the joy of the Holy Ghost. The people in this city were saved by the word, the power, and the Holy Ghost.
[1 Thessalonians 1:5-6 KJV] “For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. [6] And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:“
They did not believe by cunning craftiness but by the pure gospel and power of God. That church was birthed by the very sacrifice of the lives of the apostles.
[1 Thessalonians 2:3-9 KJV] “For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: [4] But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. [5] For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness: [6] Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. [7] But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: [8] So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. [9] For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God”.
Now we know that having began in the Spirit, none should be perfected in the flesh.
To maintain the Spirit-filled life, we must;
- Possess our vessels in honour and sanctification
- Study to work and do our businesses quietly
- Beware that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night
- Receive and honour those who work among you and admonish you
- Warn the unruly, comfort the feeble minded, support the weak, and be patience towards all men
- Never render evil for evil, but follow that which is good
- Rejoice always
- Pray without ceasing
- In all things give thanks
- Quench not the Spirit
- Despise not prophesyings
- Prove all things and hold fast to that which is good
- Abstain from all appearances of evil
This is how we maintain a Spirit-filled life; The life ordered in the Spirit. These are the keys. Stay blessed!
I love you;
