[Psalms 122:1-2 KJV] “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord . Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem”.
A church is a gathering of two or three in the name of the Lord to offer the sacrifices and show forth God’s glory. Wherever two or three people gather in the name of the Lord can be considered as a church. It is therefore clear that any couple can start a church and grow it.
Why should you be glad when you are invited to church? Because there are so many places you can choose to go, and there are so many places you are invited to. Sometimes you are invited to parties, and wedding, games, excursions, etc. We are invited to so many places and we meet so many important people and have great fun, but there is something so important about being invited to church. The psalmist said, he was glad when they said unto him, “let us go to the house of the Lord”. Now, why was he glad, and why should you be glad when you are invited to the house of the Lord. Why should anyone be so glad when they are invited to come to the house of the Lord?
1. You get to meet God:
The Bible says, where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there in their midst. Those who come to the house of the Lord meet God.
[Matthew 18:20 KJV] “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
2. You experience holiness:
Obadiah, in chapter 1:17, teaches that upon mount Zion, there is holiness.
[Obadiah 1:17 KJV] “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions”.
Those who come to Zion separate themselves. They are made holy unto the Lord and don’t mix up with the world unnecessarily.
3. You experience deliverance:
The prophet Obadiah teaches that upon Zion, there shall be deliverance and possessing of possessions. Those who come to the house of the Lord are delivered and filled. We are empowered to possess our possessions.
[Luke 5:17 KJV] “And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them”.
Inasmuch as God has the power to heal and deliver, He heals and delivers only those who trust Him to do so, and have an encounter with that power.
4. You will be taught the word of God:
In Isaiah 2:1-3, we learn that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be exalted and established above the mountains; and the people shall say to one another, “let us go to the house of the that He may teach us and we shall learn of His ways”.
5. It saves you from slipping:
When you come to the church you gain understanding.
[Psalms 73:1-3, 17 KJV] “Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. [2] But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. [3] For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. [17] Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end”.
6. You get the opportunity to serve others:
Serving others is a secret to greatness. Those who serve rise to greatness. As you keep coming, find a place to serve and you will rise to greatness.
There are so many benefits in coming to church. You will never be the same again! May be Lord help you to keep coming. Stay blessed;
