[et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”][1 Timothy 2:1-4 KJV] “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; [2] For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. [3] For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; [4] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth“.
The purpose of God is that;
- All men may be saved
- All men may come to the knowledge of the truth
- All men may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty
This is the three fold purpose of God, but I have observed that many are not saved, and many of the few that are saved have not come to the knowledge of truth. And indeed, even those who have come to the knowledge of the truth are still wearing the old man instead of putting on the new man that renewed after the knowledge of Him that created us.
The apostle Paul is, therefore, calling on the church to supplicate, pray, intercede and give thanks for all man and for people in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. This three-fold agenda of God must be fulfilled.
Everyone of us who really want to succeed as a Christian must answer three question; Am I saved? Have I come to the knowledge of the truth? Am I wearing the new man who is renewed after the knowledge of Him that created me?
1. Remember that God wants to save us from the effects of sin:
He is committed to save all men from eternal death, diseases, indebtedness, weakness, and the sting and victory of death. This salvation comes by faith in Christ.
2. God wants you to come to the knowledge of the truth:
He is looking forward to see us pursuing the truth. After being saved, we must all be committed to pursue truth. Jesus Christ is, however, that truth. He is the way the truth and the Life. In Philippians 3:7-11, the apostle Paul teaches us to pursue the knowledge of;
- Who Christ is
- The power of His resurrection (that is, the power of God)
- The fellowship of His sufferings
- Being made conformable unto His death
We do all these in the hope that by any means, we might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. The knowledge of the truth is what leads to succeeding. The lack of knowledge leads to destruction. What you don’t know will keep you in perpetual poverty.
3. Finally, you must strive to put on the new man, renewed after the knowledge of God:
Every one of us must strive to put off the old man, and put on the new man, which is created after the knowledge of God. (Colossians 3:10-11) The Bible tells us that the doer of word is the one who is blessed and not the one who only hears the word. What you obey is what you truly believe. Any word you do not keep is not what you believe. Your true faith is the word you keep and obey. The truth you come to know must renew your mind and nature. You cannot continue to wear the old and succeed as a Christian.
These are the simple secrets to succeed as a Christian. You will make it when you engage with this truth.
Stay blessed; I love you!
