[John 15:1-5 KJV] “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. [2] Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. [3] Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. [4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. [5] I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing”.
Many are struggling with life today because they think they can make it on their own. The truth is, Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. We are the branches because we have believed. Although others may make it by other means, there is no way to make it and save your soul except you rely on Jesus Christ.
Some are making it without Jesus but at the expense of their souls. Some people might gain the whole world and lose their souls, but we can gain the world and gain our souls also. Anyone who really wants to serve the Lord must strive to depend on Jesus Christ. If you want to depend on Jesus Christ for life and godliness, then;
- Admit that you cannot make it on your own
- Believe that Jesus Christ has paid the price for you to make it
- Continue in the faith
It is important to note that until you are totally yielded, the Lord cannot help you. Anytime you think you have a way to make it all by yourself, you have shut the bowels of mercy. Until you admit that you cannot make it on your own, you have not admitted that you need the help of God. The prodigal son had to come to the point of admitting that it is better to be a slave at home, than a CEO out there. He came to his senses, you must awake from your sleep and Christ will give you light.
You must also believe that Jesus Christ has paid the price and given us a new and living way to the Father and to make life worth living. He paid the price for our redemption and has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness. You must believe on Jesus Christ.
It is important to state that faith produces two responses; True faith leads to confession and obedience.
Faith leads to the right confession. Those who have the spirit of faith speak. What you believe will lead to saying the right things. Your true faith will determine your true words. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth will speak. 2 Corinthians 4:13-14 teaches that, “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; [14] Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you”.
The Bible tells us that, “whosoever loves life and will see good days must refrain his tongue from speaking guile and his lips from evil”. Your words are forerunners in your future. The things you say will impact you significantly. You must be careful about how you speak.
Remember also that faith without works or obedience is dead. Faith must have works with it. Faith must lead to works. Show me your faith by your works. Let me see what you believe in what you do.
- Where are your works?
- What are you ready to do?
- What are you ready to lose?
- How far are you ready to sacrifice in order to reach your goals?
These are the indicators that connote your faith. Your confession and your works will show your faith and nothing more.
Remember that without Him, we who have believed can do nothing. The world may be able to do certain things but at the expense of their souls. You can sell your soul for success and fame and perish in Hellfire, but you can allow Jesus Christ to save that soul and add everything to you.
Be blessed; I love you!
