What Every Young Adult Needs Most

Youthfulness is one of the most confusing stages of life. Unless properly guided, you will make a shipwreck of your destiny and regret it pretty later.

What every youth needs is an adult guide or role model. You need a guide or coach who is accomplished enough and will never be in competition with you. Every youngster needs a God-fearing adult they submit to to be guided. Many lives have been destroyed because there was no guide to coach them in confused moments.

As a youngster, there is so much you face in life which needs adult input. Somethings, being too private and secretive is not good nor helpful. Sometimes, you need an intelligent God-fearing adult you can open up to. This could be your youth church pastors, mother, your pastor, or any God-fearing adult you can look up to as a role model. A role model is someone who has lived the life you look forward to living. You must choose with the wisdom of God.

It’s important to remember that in a multitude of counselors, there is safety. You must speak to two or three trusted God-fearing adults on almost every major decision you have to make. Seek their counsel before acting, don’t act before seeking counsel.

You need these adults in your life because your teen years can be very challenging. Without these God-sent adults, you could make so many mistakes before you grow wiser.

Three things that pose the greatest danger to you in your teen years are:

The influx and availability of information without knowledge, wisdom, and understanding;

Remember, we live in a digital age with an avalanche of information bombarding and flooding us. You need knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to discriminate and sift through the information bombarding you every now and then.

What many of us have is information but we don’t have the right knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. I pray that God will grant us the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to grow wiser and responsible.

Identity Crisis

The second challenge of youthfulness is identity crisis. This is what makes peer pressure such a big problem for youngsters. Many of us don’t know who we are, and so we try to become what is popular or in vogue. You must know who you are in Christ so that you are not tempted to be like anyone. I pray that the Lord will show you your prophetic destiny.

Joseph did not make a lot of mistakes because he knew who he was. Joseph had a dream that guided his life so that even when his mother and father were not around, he still knew what to do.

We can also discuss Daniel, he did not defile himself with marijuana, Tramadol, or heroin. In Daniel 1:8, Daniel was bold enough to make a decision to keep himself.

Loneliness

The third challenge of youthfulness is loneliness. This is one thing that leads a lot of us into vices. Loneliness is common among youngsters because teenage is more fluid and mobile. Most people between 16 and 24 go through so much because many are experiencing their first job, their first relationship or their first stay away from home. To deal with this problem, go out and socialize but with values and responsibility.

I pray that you will be guided and will not make a shipwreck of your life and destiny. May the Lord keep and protect you and may you rise to become all that God has destined for you to be, Amen!
