[Ephesians 5:15-17 KJV] “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is”.
I want to exhort you today about redeeming the time. Time is one of the most precious resources of life. If you joke with the time of your life, you are joking with one of the most important resources of life.
I believe it is important for each of us to master the art of redeeming the time for two simple reasons; The days are evil, and your life is measured in time. Time is the flow of life. Time is fleeting, and the clock of life begins to tick the very moment you are born into this life. None of us has forever to live in this life. Therefore, allowing anything to waste your time is not wisdom.
The following are simple hints to redeem the time in these last days;
1. Allow God to teach you to number your days:
Those who are taught to number their days, apply their hearts to wisdom. You don’t have forever to be here; you could go on forever in the next life, but this present life you do not have forever. We must, therefore, pray that the Lord will teach each of us to number our days. Pray that the Lord shall awaken you from every slumber and sleep. Pray that you shall gain greater understanding into the time of your life and the prophetic time table so that you will walk in wisdom.
2. Pray for an understanding into times and seasons
Like the children of Issachar, all you need is to gain an understanding into times. The Bible teaches that “the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment” (1 Chronicle 12:32 KJV). We need this kind of understanding that helped the children of Issachar to know what Israel ought to do and at what time.
I pray that the Lord will give each of us this same understanding. The Bible says “there is time for everything, and to every season there is a purpose”. May God give us understanding into times and season, to know the things that must occupy our times, and the purpose of every season.
3. Deal with time waters:
There are many time wasters in these last days. Very common among them that fights your productivity are social media, online shopping, pornography, online games, being a perfectionist, bulky to-do lists, reverse delegation, phone calls, chit-chat, and unnecessary bickering and “friendly fights”. I believe that every one of us can prayerfully analyse our lives to determine the things that waste our time. If you don’t kill the time wasters, they will kill your time and life. I pray for strength for you to deal with time wasters.
4. Sharpen your skills and talents:
Many of us spend our days working, but many of us do very little because we don’t take time to sharpen our skills and talents. Many of us end up losing a lot of resources and time because we lack the cutting edge understanding to deal with complex life issues. The Bible says “If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct”. (Ecclesiastes 10:10 KJV). I pray that you shall spend a little time a day to sharpen your gifts and talents for greater impact.
5. Walk in wisdom, walk circumspectly:
Finally, the Bible teaches that one of the prominent time wasters is those who don’t believe what you believe. You waste a lot of precious time when you surround yourself with people who don’t believe what you believe. You would have to spend a lot of time having to explain yourself in every little thing. They become a weight to carry along, please wise up.
The Bible admonishes us to “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time”. One thing that can increase your productivity more than anything else is to associate yourself and your vision with people who believe in excellence and productivity.
I pray that after this moment, you are going to redeem the time. I pray that you shall escape the folly of wasting precious time on things that won’t matter in the long run. I pray that you shall give up bitterness, bickering, and arguments that waste everyone’s time. May the Lord bless and favour you, amen!
Be blessed, I love you!
