[Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV] “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”.
I want to exhort you today on running the race set before you. We are called and set on our individual paths to race our own race. The Bible exhorts us to run the race set before us. We are running our own races and there is no reason to run what appears like someone else’s race.
Trust your path! Understand that whatever your race is, even if you are a janitor, can lead to wherever the path of a dentist is leading. We are all not apostles, prophets or evangelist. Some are prophets, others are apostles, and a few are pastors; each of us is called with a unique gift to run the race set before us. I pray that you will run your race well and finish well and strong.
There are, however, three things to always remember:
- We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.
- The two things that can slow you down in this race are weights and sin that easily beset you.
- You must run this race with patience or endurance.
