[1 Corinthians 15:58 KJV] “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord”.
I want to exhort you today to abound in the work of the Lord. We must all strive to abound in the work of the Lord because our labour will not be in vain. Every single and little labour we put in the work of the Lord shall be rewarded. He is not unrighteous to forget our labour of love. Every single thing you or I do for the Lord shall be rewarded.
Whether, it is to seek and witness to the lost, to give a cup of water to one of the little ones, to give an offering to missions, to serve a minister of God, to kneel in prayer for souls, or to hold the neighbour’s hands; what we do for the Lord shall never passes unnoticed. Men may not see it, men may not reward it, they may not appreciate it, but God can never forget any of our works of love; He is too righteous for that.
Now, the following keys will help you to always abound in the work of the Lord;
1. Offer yourself as a living sacrifice to God;
Romans 12:1-2 teaches that each of us should offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God; and also to renew our minds by the word; this is the only way we can know the will of God. You cannot work with a man when you do not know what he is trying to achieve. We can abound in the work of the Lord when we know what that work is. You should, therefore, strive to know the will of the Lord and to abound in the work of the Lord.
2. Don’t think too highly of yourself, but think soberly;
Romans 12:3-5 exhorts us not to think too highly of ourselves but to think soberly. Each of us must think clearly and soberly if we want to abound in the work of the Lord. I believe that many people don’t do well in the work of ministry because they don’t think well. Every one of us has a gift, but it takes sober thinking to be able to team up with others and to abound in the work of the Lord.
3. Wait on your gift;
You can do well in ministry when you wait on your gift and on your ministry. Just spend time to prepare yourself and your gift. You must not allow anything to stop you from preparing. You need that time of waiting on your gift more than anything else.
4. Be ready to run your race set before you and to finish your course with joy;
This is the time and today is the day to press on and reach forth towards the mark of the high calling of Christ. We must forget the things that are behind and press on. There are things in our future which we must lay behold of. Don’t be distracted by either the past or the present! There is a greater, bigger and better future ahead, press on to it.
Focus on reaching forth to the mark of the high calling of Christ. And may you always abound in the work of the Lord, I love you!
