The book of Genesis gives us a dialogue between Jacob and his brother when they were returning home. His brother met him and his caravan on the way and when the herdsmen decided to push the calves faster, the more experienced among them taught that it is not wise to overdrive the caravan. It is true that sometimes in life you are in a haste arrive and to make it but being patient pays.
[Genesis 33:13 KJV] “And he said unto him, My Lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.”
Sometimes, we are so much in a rush because we want overnight success. We want to arrive so quickly because we think things have delayed. I want to exhort you that it is better to allow things to develop at its own pace and not to overdrive the caravan. Many tender things in life get marred when we rush them to ripen.
The Bible tells us that “he that is in a haste shall not be innocent.” Patience pays and being patient is wisdom.
When you overdrive your caravan, the tender calves will die. The only way to have your goods safe is to drive and advance patiently.
When Jacob was returning home, they spoke wisdom to each other when the leaders were in a haste. Do not be in a haste to arrive; you will not be innocent. You must be patient and run at your own pace. Consider the fact that you have some tender lambs and calves with you. The Lord has things arranged in His own time and His time is the best.
Whatever you do, please, do it in faith and with patience. Do not rush; don’t allow the need for time to make you speed off. This is the time and the season to understand that God will take us far and we will arrive!
