If there is any time in all the history of man that this doctrine of healing by speaking the word must be taught; it is now.
We are living in a time that those who can’t receive by merely hearing the word may have to wait a long while to be blessed. I will not be surprised when the laying on of hands soon gets outlawed in many countries.
We are living in a time when many homes are becoming more secluded and cut off by high walls. We are gradually drifting to an era when many homes may not open up to the gospel except by radio, television, or by the internet.
There may even come a time when it may not be safe to open your doors to a supposed missionary because of crime. We are living on the brink of that time. This is the time to teach the church to say “speak your word only”.
One day our Lord Jesus was going to the home of a Roman Centurion to minister to his sick servant but;
[Matthew 8:8 KJV] “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed”
The centurion had faith enough to believe that only the word was enough to heal his servant.
Galatians 3:5 teaches that God both ministers the anointing and works miracles by the machinery of the hearing of faith. Hearing the word, and hearing by both the word and by faith births miracles and brings change.
The truth is when we pray, fast, or call upon God, one of the main ways by which He will send help is by sending His word.
Instances of the word in action
The Bible teaches us that;
1. When Israel sinned against God and was faced with death, they cried unto the Lord and He sent His word:
[Psalms 107:17-20 KJV] “Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions”
2. When Israel sinned against God and He delivered them to the Midianites, they cried unto Him and God sent them a prophet:
[Judges 6:7-8 KJV] “And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord because of the Midianites, That the Lord sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;”
3. The Holy Spirit fell when the household of Cornelius heard the word:
The Bible teaches in Acts 10:44 that Cornelius and his household received the anointing of the Holy Spirit when they heard the word being preached.
4. The lame man at Lystra was healed when he heard the word and received faith to be healed:
[Acts 14:6-10 KJV] “They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about: And there they preached the gospel. And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked:”
“The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.”
The Spoken Word is power and we must begin to train ourselves to receive life and the supernatural by the word. The word the Lord speaks is life and spirit.
How the Spoken Word works
It is important to understand that the Spoken Word works on some foundations:
[Matthew 8:8-10 KJV] “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel”.
1. The preacher must be a man under authority:
The preacher must be a master of his words. He should be able to command his words to action.
2. The hearers must possess great faith:
The Lord attested that the centurion was a man of great faith.
3. We must therefore teach and listen to more of the word of faith:
Each of us must build a culture of listening, watching, and reading, and acting out the word. We must learn how to receive by the word.
May the word break the spirit of anything trying to keep you stagnant! May you rise above all odds and sail above the schemes of darkness! May the word give you great speed to excellence!
Prayer focus
1. Pray and tell the Lord to exalt His word among us.
May the word of the Lord be exalted. As the men of God speak the word, may it work on us and in us. May the word of God be exalted.
2. Pray that the Lord will both heal and deliver by the word:
May we receive testimonies from the word. May the Lord give our new converts testimonies of miracles and healing. May the word drive out devils and restore soundness.
3. Pray that the word of God shall have a free course with others as it had with us:
As we enter the homes by television and streets by street broadcasts may the Lord give His word a free course with others as with us.
4. Pray that the word of God in your mouth shall be fire:
Pray that when we speak, fire will follow our words. May God empower your tongue to speak life and healing.
5. Pray that it shall be unto you according to His word:
The same word that gave Mary seed, healed nations, and liberated men shall be manifested in your life. May His word be manifested in our lives.
6. Pray that anything that is fighting the word of God in our lives shall be destroyed by fire:
Pray that the Lord shall cause His word to be stronger than any barrier projected against you. His word shall prevail.
