The Prayer of the Godly Man

[Proverbs 30:7‭-‬9 KJV] “Two things have I required of thee; Deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee , and say, Who is the LORD ? Or lest I be poor, and steal, And take the name of my God in vain”

I want to exhort you to understand that “life is simple; there is no need to complicate it!”

As you go through life, there are two things that you must desire of God and strive to maintain. Pray that God would;

  1. Remove lies and vanity far from you
  2. Give you neither poverty nor riches

These are the two deadly traps that destroy godly men. Pray that God would remove both lies and vanity from your life.

The Bible teaches that a skeptic may say that we are animals and there is no God, or let us do whatever comes to mind, because when we die, we are dead; but we know that man is more than an animal. We know that it is appointed to us once to die and after death, the judgement. We want to live our lives with this at the back of our minds.

  1. I pray that you will escape the dead traps and snare of lies, vanity, poverty, and riches.
  2. As we lift the oil and our voices in prayer; may the Lord totally destroy lies, vanity, poverty, and filthy riches that makes proud.
  3. May the Lord give each of us bread that is convinient! May the Lord sustain you with wheat, milk, barley, flour, and wine!
  4. May you never lack! May the Lord keep us from pride, poverty, lies, and vanity!

[Proverbs 30:1‭-‬6 MSG] “The skeptic swore, “There is no God! No God!—I can do anything I want! I’m more animal than human; so-called human intelligence escapes me. “I flunked ‘wisdom.’ I see no evidence of a holy God. Has anyone ever seen Anyone climb into Heaven and take charge? grab the winds and control them? gather the rains in his bucket? stake out the ends of the earth? Just tell me his name, tell me the names of his sons. Come on now—tell me!”

“The believer replied, “Every promise of God proves true; he protects everyone who runs to him for help. So don’t second-guess him; he might take you to task and show up your lies.”

“And then he prayed, “God, I’m asking for two things before I die; don’t refuse me— Banish lies from my lips and liars from my presence. Give me enough food to live on, neither too much nor too little. If I’m too full, I might get independent, saying, ‘God? Who needs him?’ If I’m poor, I might steal and dishonor the name of my God.”

Let us go deeper with the basics; life is simple, don’t complicate it:

  1. Read your Bible and pray everyday
  2. Fellowship and witness everyday
  3. Work and build daily

The preacher taught us;

  1. Just go to bed early and rest well
  2. Wake up early, read your Bible and pray
  3. Brush your teeth, shave, and bath; dress with style and values
  4. Eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart
  5. Go and give off your best at the work your hands have found with wisdom, might, diligence, and understanding
  6. Retire back home to catch up with family and friends; if you have a service, attend and serve the saints with love
  7. Help whenever it is in your power to do so. That is what makes us humans. To stand and defend one another and the weak. The poor saved the city when he could. Though, no man appreciated his effort, it was worth it.

Life is simple; don’t complicate it. You will be fine. “Godliness with contentment is great gain!”

Let us arise and pray that the Lord shall remove from us lies, vanity, poverty, and pride. We want to live our lives knowing that there is God who will bring all of our works into judgement.

Stay blessed
