[2 Corinthians 10:3-6 KJV]“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)”
“casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”
The Bible teaches that though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. We have weapons that are mighty through God when engaged properly. What are these weapons and how do they work?
The simple things that fortify you against satanic aggression are your strength in God, resolution to withstand even in an evil day, your assurance of salvation, righteousness, inclination to the truth, your faith, word power, readiness to preach the gospel, and your commitment to watch and pray with perseverance.
[Ephesians 6:10-20 KJV] “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places .”
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;”
“and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”
“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”
“and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.“
If you want to win the battle against darkness and evil then you must do the following;
1. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might:
Weaklings cannot win the battle against evil! You must build inner strength by praying more in the Holy Ghost.
2. Resolve to withstand even in the evil day:
Do not let anything push you down! Decide that you will stand come what may! Come hell or hail, we must be resolved to stand. What the devil wants is for you to give up but you must take a stand to withstand! No retreat! No surrender! Just stand until you finish!
3. Be assured of your salvation:
Assurance of salvation is a master key to remain strong. You must be assured without a doubt that you are saved and not lost. The devil will always try to create doubt concerning your convictions. Your assurance that you are saved will strengthen you against the schemes of darkness.
4. Be righteous:
Men ought to see your good works and praise your Father in Heaven. This is what we have been called to be and do. We are called to be the righteousness of God so we must learn to walk in righteousness!
5. Love and hold on to truth:
Many things are logical but not truthful. You must have truth as a belt around your waist! When the love of the truth is not in you, you can be deceived by all deceivableness. If you want to win against devils, you must love the truth. The love of the truth must be in you. This is one key way to win against evil.
6. Have faith:
You must have faith in God and His word. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word …”. You must just stay with the word of God. The safest way to escape demonic wiles is to stay with what the word of God says. That is the “more sure word of prophecy!” God’s word is proven, so if you put your faith in His Word, you will never be deceived.
7. Take a hold of the word:
Study the word, know the word, meditate on the word! It will make you wise and smarter! You must meditate on and hold on to the Word, that is how you can win the battle. When the devil tempted Jesus Christ in the wilderness, He overcame him by the word of God. The more of the Word you know the better prepared you are to face the devil. This is the time to study the Word.
9. Be ready to preach the gospel.
You must be ready to share the gospel with everyone you meet. Our readiness to preach the Word is a sign of our preparedness to win the war.
10. Above all you must be ready to watch and pray with supplication and perseverance in the Spirit:
We must be ready to pray and to watch. Prayer is the thin thread that holds our warfare together. By faith and by prayer we engage the heavens to move on our behalf. As the church, we must be ready to pray and to believe! Payer and faith are what swings the battle rams to break the barriers.
Beloved in the Lord, the devil is determined to stop you but if you can be strong in the Lord and resolve to stand and withstand. If you can be assured of your salvation, and believe, study the word, and if you can walk in righteousness, watch and pray fervently, then you’ll surely win!
Stay blessed
