Inasmuch as the Holy Spirit is given as the great comforter to help us; there are 7 groups of people the Holy Spirit cannot help. These are;
1. People who grieve the Holy Spirit:
Ephesians 4:30 says grieve not the Holy Spirit with which you are sealed against the day of redemption. Grieving the Holy Spirit will shut the doors of access! We must strive not to grieve the Holy Spirit!
2. People who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit:
Matthew 12:31-32 teaches that every sin and blasphemy may be forgiven except blaspheming against the Holy Spirit. Let us be careful what we say about the Holy Spirit; such blasphemy may not be pardoned.
3. Those who frustrate or rebel against the Holy Spirit:
Isaiah 63:10 reveals that because they rebelled against God, he turned and became an enemy and chastised them by the enemy. Those who rebel against the Holy Spirit cannot be helped by the Spirit.
In Genesis 6:3, it is written that the Spirit of God will not strive with man anymore. In John 3, we learn that the Spirit, like the wind, blows where He wishes; all we can do is flow with it. God will not strive with man forever!
4. People who love lies and deception:
The Holy Spirit cannot help those who do not love the truth. You must love the truth if you want the Holy Spirit to help you. (See John 16:7-14; John 14:26)
5. Those who quench the Spirit:
God cannot help those who quench the spirit by the Spirit. You must stir the Spirit if you want the Holy Ghost to help you! Quench not the Spirit!
6. Those who despise prophesying and the Word:
They cannot be helped by the Holy Spirit. This is because the Spirit of Christ is the spirit of prophecy. (See I Thessalonians 5:20)
7. Those who are carnal:
Spiritual things are spiritually discerned. You must be spiritual to receive spiritual things.
God can help people who rejoice in the heart of the Holy Spirit, celebrate the spirit, are yielded to the Holy Ghost, who love truth, stir the Spirit, honour prophecy, and are spiritual-minded; these are the people God can help by His spirit!
Stay blessed
