I am sharing with you today on the theme, understanding missions. The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ said “I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church.”
Our Lord
Jesus Christ is, therefore, building His church on the foundations of apostles and prophets, with men as both members of the church and co-labourers with God.
[Matthew 16:18-19 KJV] “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
[Ephesians 2:19-22 KJV] “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,”
“ Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.“
[1 Peter 2:4-5 KJV] “To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
[1 Corinthians 3:6-10 KJV] “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”
“Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.”
“According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.“
The Bible teaches that we are co-labourers with God, and each of us must be careful about how we build; we must build as master wise builders. Each of us must build with skill and wisdom. You must build with mastery and wisdom. We are called to be both members of the building and as co-labourers. Let us arise and build.
There are three simple things you can do in building and staying a part of the building. Many are involved in the building but will not be part of the building or the spiritual house. To be involved in the building and stay a part or member of the building will require that you;
- Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling
- Pray for all men and for kings and people in authority.
- Dress decently as befits godly women
- Be a missionary to where you live, work , and play
This is the work and the mission we are called to. Let us all get involved in building the kingdom.
Stay blessed
