[Psalm 116:12-19 KJV]”What shall I render unto the LORD For all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the LORD. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.”
“O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: Thou hast loosed my bonds. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people, In the courts of the LORD’s house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.”
One of the key requirements of our faith which have been ignored over the ages is the mystery of thanksgiving. The will of God for us is to give thanks in all things. That is why the psalmist said, “what shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits towards me?” Must you render something to the Lord for all His benefits towards you? It’s advisable! It will save you from the dangers and curses of;
- Thinking that your own might have gotten you wealth; when you have built goodly houses and dwell in them; eaten and are full. (Deuteronomy 8:18-20)
- Treating lightly the Rock of your Salvation and run after God’s (Deuteronomy 32)
- Your heart lifting up and not rendering back to God such as He has dealt with you (2 Chronicles 32:25)
[2 Chronicles 32:25 KJV] “But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done unto him; for his heart was lifted up: therefore there was wrath upon him, and upon Judah and Jerusalem.”
What then are the benefits of the Lord which He has bestowed upon us? Psalm 103 teaches us that the Lord has bestowed upon us;
- Forgiving all our trespasses
- Healing all our infirmities
- Redeeming our souls from destruction
- Renewal of our youth as that of the eagle
- Satisfying us with good things
- Crowning us with loving-kindness and mercy
What then shall we render to the Lord? What can we give back to God for all His benefits that He has bestowed upon us? What shall we render?
- Lift up the cup of salvation
- Call upon the Lord continually
- Pay your vows now before all the people in the courts of His house
Thanksgiving is a mystery and we must strive to give it continually. God expects us to return with all the thanks and gratitude.
Stay blessed
