[3 John 1:2 KJV] “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
You will never understand the statement health is wealth until you have lost it. I want to encourage you to guard your health with diligence. My desire and wish is to see you walk and live in health even as your you increase. Inasmuch as it is true that none shall remain a stone; you are better off being healthy till you go to rest. When you lose your health, many things will also go wrong in your life.
Here are some practical tips for healthy living:
- Eat healthily; Reduce your intake of sugar, salts, processed foods, and fats. Add more vegetables, legumes, roots, fruits, and fish to your diet. Eat home-cooked food more; it is not just healthier, it’s economical too.
- Practice safe and godly sex; Promiscuity will always lead to an early grave. Even the proverbial Jezebel was warned of being cast into a death bed in the book of revelation.
- Be happy on purpose; The scriptures say “a merry heart does good like medicine.” Learning to be happy and to reduce stress and the pressure on the mind is always better. You will always have a reason not to be happy and anxious but you can practice being happy on purpose.
- Be active: Physical exercise profits little. I don’t often recommend hitting the gym. I believe that if you can wake up early to run a few errands and do some house chores, you are good to go.
- Avoid alcohol, smoking and junk food
- Read and meditate on the Scriptures every day! The word of God is health to those who find it (See Proverbs 4:22)
- Watch and pray daily! Not every infirmity is natural and ordinary. Remember, there was a woman who was bound by Satan for years, yet she was a daughter of Abraham.
- Fast intermittently; You will derive double benefits. It will help you keep in shape and also empower you spiritually
- Keep a clean and safe environment. This will keep you from domestic accidents.
- Observe health and safety protocols, at home, at work, and on the road.
- Get 30 minutes of sunshine daily; it’s good for your mental health too.
Be blessed!
