[1 Corinthians 9:24-27 KJV] “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things.”
“Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: but I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
[Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV] “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
I believe that we understand that the Christian journey is a race to obtain an incorruptible crown. The Bible teaches that;
Those who run in a race run to obtain a crown and receive a prize.
We must therefore all run with a vision to obtain this incorruptible crown and receive the prize!
It is also important to understand that someone called us into this race; we did not call ourselves; Jesus Christ is the author and the finisher of our faith. He called us into this race, and He is the one who determines the goal and rules that govern the race and game. There is a destination, a place we are called to attain. There is a mark that we must attain and that is what we must strive for.
- What is this destiny?
- Why should we strive to reach the mark of the calling
- How can we reach this destiny and mark
- Are there barriers we are racing against? What then are these barriers and what strategies are there to surmount these barriers?
These are simple questions I leave you to meditate on. These questions will help shape our perspectives to life. It is important to run so as to obtain a crown.
Stay blessed
