What does it mean to guard your heart with all diligence? I have it on my heart to share with you on guarding your heart with all diligence, so let’s get into the Word right away;
[Proverbs 4:23-27 KJV] “Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a froward mouth, And perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on, And let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, And let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: Remove thy foot from evil.”
Guard your heart with all diligence?
To guard your heart with diligence is to guide the four things that make up your heart. It is to guard zealously;
- How you think (mind): How you think determines how you behave. Your thoughts will control most of the things you do; guard it.
- What you feel (emotions): Many have made mistakes because they did not guard how they feel. Emotions have a way of affecting behaviour and judgement.
- What you aspire for (aspirations): the third thing you must guard zealously is your aspirations. What things do you aspire for? What things control your dreams and visions. Lucifer fell because he aspired for things too high. His pride and high mindedness cost him his place with God.
- What pricks or excites your heart (conscience): This is the amplifier by which God speaks to you. Some people have seared conscience; they have become wicked and unable to feel.
