(1 Timothy 4:11-16 KJV) “These things command and teach. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”
“Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.”
God wants you to serve Him by serving the brethren; here are simple keys to excel in minstry is to the brethren.
1. Teach and command in the things you have been instructed
Every man of God has a message he must run with. There is a message that is given to you, discover and work it effectively! You must have a message with which you are running with. There are things you have been instructed in and you must teach and command them. You must instruct the brethren to beware of doctrines of devils that forbid marrying and the eating of certain foods.
Let no man despise you, but be an example of the believer
You must strive to be an example of the believer in word, in lifestyle, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. You will excel in minstry when you strive to become an example. Many young ministers fail because they preach as lords and as not examples.
One of the key things I have observed in the ministry of Bishop Oyedepo is that he preaches as an example. He shows you how the things he is teaching has yielded results in his life.
Give attendance to reading, doctrine, and exhortation
This is how wisdom increases. You will increase in wisdom and knowledge when you give yourself to reading and doctrine and exhortation. You must soak in truth and revelations daily if you want to excel in ministry.
Neglect not the gift in thee
There is a gift in every minister; you must discover and stir yours out. You must work it!
Meditate and give yourself wholly to the things you have been instructed in
Meditate and act on what you have been taught.
Stay blessed
