[Matthew 17:14-21 KJV] “And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.”
“Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?”
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.“
Have you ever been at that place when you have done whatever you saw your master do and yet, you fell short of the results he was getting? I have. We have been trying to reach the world and grow a mega church for years now; we have been doing everything the others are doing, yet we have not been able to hit the scale we aspire for.
Many years ago, a man whose son was sick and vexed by devils brought him to the disciples to help him. The disciples did all they could but to no avail, till our Lord Jesus showed up and with a word, He cast out the devil. His disciples then came to him privately and said, “Lord, why couldn’t we? Because we did exactly what you did.” Then Jesus answered “because of your unbelief.”
Listen carefully now! Faith is the secret to make all things possible. The Bible says “there are three things that never fail: faith, hope, and love.” Love is just the greatest but all three don’t fail. All three abide. Faith never fails! Faith will always deliver results. You don’t even need a big faith, all you need is faith as a mustard seed. Once you get that, you must sow it, engage it, grow it and use it. All you need is faith to make things happen.
The big questions is why didn’t my faith work? Well there are two reasons: either you were wavering or you did not use it.
A man that wavers can’t recieve anything from God because he is unstable in all of his ways. (Stability is the spirit of excelling)
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:5-8 KJV)
When the disciples were faced with the boisterous winds, Jesus expected them to use their faith. His question was “where was your faith?”
“Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish.”
“Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.” (Luke 8:22-25 KJV)
What can I do with faith to make things happen?
If you faith as mustard seed;
- You will hear by the hearing of faith: When you have faith, you don’t listen to scorners, the ungodly, or to sinners. Do you have faith, you listen by faith. You listen to things that feed your faith. (See Galatians 3:5) We know that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God; miracles and anointing come by more listening and listening by faith.
- You will speak to the mountains to remove: Speaking is the spirit of faith. Those who believe speak; most often you speak what you sincerely believe. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life. When you have faith, you speak to obstacles and barriers.
- You add right works of faith: James 1:20, 26 teaches that faith without works is dead; just as the body without the spirit is dead. If you really believe in something, you will commit some effectual work to it. Faith inspires the required work for results.
- You fast and pray: No matter how hard and smart you work; sometimes, some things will not yield and respond. Sometimes it takes fasting and prayer. Sometimes you have to fight and win in the realms of the spirit to see results in the realm of nature.
- You will be stable and faithful: When you believe you remain constant and committed. Most people will not throw their weight behind things they don’t believe in. Most people must be fully persuaded to give their full commitment to a cause. If you fully believe; you will be fully committed!
And nothing shall be impossible to us! You can make things happen when you discover, develop, and deploy the power that makes things happen.
