[Philippians 2:12-16 KJV] “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
“Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”
I wish above all things that in the coming year, as you obey in my presence, obey much more in my absence. I pray for everyone of you to obey the truth much more even when I am not watching or can’t even see.
Listen! There is no mentoring or shepherding if there is no disclosure!
I pray that you will work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. I want you to pursue genuine perfection not perfect pretence. The scriptures is calling upon us to do all things without murmurings or disputings; so that we might be blameless and harmless, sons of God without rebuke in a crooked and perverse generation. The scriptures is calling upon us to shine as lights in the world, holding forth the word of life!
We have come to end of an era and the beginning of another
Listen! We have come to the end of an era and the beginning of another, it is only prudent to sit down and appraise our walk. The Bible encourages us to ponder our paths; and we must!
“Ponder the path of thy feet, And let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: Remove thy foot from evil.” (Proverbs 4:26-27 KJV)
Listen, it is normal that as you walk through the dusty roads of life; your feet may gather dust and get dirty. If we don’t stop from time to time to freshen up, we may drift so far that recovering and restoring may be impossible!
Examples from scriptures
In the book of Revelations, a sect is mentioned; this is a sect called the Nicolatans, named after one of the Deacons, Apostle Peter ordained in Acts 6. This brother Nicholas was one of the seven were thought of as wise, spiritfilled, of honest report, faithfilled, and teachable. Do you know what he became in the process of time?
He started a sect that practiced debauchery; a ritualistic sex party called love feast. At this party, member exchanged partners as swingers and had them in turns. They believed that Jesus Christ had freed them from the Mosaic law; so they were free to practice that hellentic rituals. (Bishop Isodore of Seville, Etymologies Book VIII titled The church and sects)
Do you know how it all started? This Deacon, Nicholas abandoned his wife because of her beauty, so that anyone who wanted to might enjoy her. This practice turned into a debauchery with swingers and ritualistic sex.
Another sect and doctrine that was mentioned were that of Balaam and Jezebel. Let us be careful what we allow into the church.
