[1 Samuel 17:34-36 KJV] “And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father‘s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: and I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth:”
“and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.”
Have you ever felt like you were facing a giant in your life? Maybe it’s a difficult challenge at work, a personal struggle, or a spiritual battle. Whatever it is, it can feel overwhelming and impossible to overcome; but the story of David and Goliath shows us that we can face our giants and win, even when they seem insurmountable.
David was a young shepherd boy when he was called to face Goliath, a giant Philistine warrior. Goliath was over nine feet tall and had been terrorizing the Israelites for weeks. Everyone was afraid of him, but David wasn’t.
David knew that he couldn’t defeat Goliath with his own strength or skill. So he turned to God for help. He said, “Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.”
David knew that God was with him, and that gave him the courage to face Goliath. He went out to battle with only a sling and five smooth stones. But with God’s help, he defeated Goliath and won the day for the Israelites.
To face your giant, remember these few tips:
Don’t be afraid. Goliath was a giant, but David wasn’t afraid of him. He knew that God was with him, and that gave him the courage to face his enemy.
Trust in God. David knew that he couldn’t defeat Goliath with his own strength or skill. So he turned to God for help. When you’re facing a giant in your life, don’t forget to trust in God. He is with you, and He will help you win.
Use the tools you have. David didn’t have a sword or a spear. He only had a sling and five smooth stones. But he used the tools he had to defeat Goliath. When you’re facing a giant in your life, use the tools you have. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and use unconventional methods.
I know that you can face your giant. With God’s help, you can overcome any challenge. So don’t give up. Keep fighting. And remember, you can win.
