I want to exhort you on 7 Spirits that we must bind and banish from the church and our lives. These are spirits that attack and destroy our ability to serve the Lord and maximize the potential of our faith.
The first one is the spirit of slumber
This is the spirit that turn believers into fools and mentally dull worshippers. When this spirit attacks a church or person, they become disillusioned and stubborn. They are unable to see nor hear; let alone to discern. They tend to be full spiritually and unable to comprehend reality.
Romans 11:7-8 KJV — “What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded [8] (according as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.“
The spirit of the world
The spirit of the world makes you carnal; you become oblivious to spiritual reality. I pray that the spirit of the world shall be bound and banished from the church and your life. When the Spirit of the world attacks your life; you begin to tilt towards a worldly inclination.
1 Corinthians 2:12 KJV — “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.“
One of the greatest tragedies of today is when the world has become so churchy and the church, so worldly. I pray that spirituality shall return to the church.
The spirit of fear
The spirit of fear makes you timid and anxious. The spirit of fear has a torment; and God has not given us the spirit of fear to be timid but of power, love, and a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV — “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.“
The spirit of fear is also the spirit of bondage and stagnation. The spirit of fear cripples and maims
Romans 8:15 KJV — “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father“.
Fear is crippling and debilitating. Fear holds bound and captive. Fear will keep you at one place and hold you captive.
The spirit of whoredom
The spirit of whoredom is the spirit of disloyalty and unfaithfulness and idolatry.
Hosea 5:3-4 KJV — “I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou committest whoredom, and Israel is defiled. [4] They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD.“
Hosea 4:11-15 KJV — “Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart. [12] My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God. [13] They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.”
[14] “I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall. [15] Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Beth-aven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.“
[17] “Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone. [18] Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.“
Spirit of unclean devils
The spirit of an unclean devil makes you unclean and perverted. People with the spirit of unclean devils have the spirit of perversion.
Luke 4:31-34 KJV — “and came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. [32] And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. [33] And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, [34] saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.“
Spirit of infirmity
The spirit of infirmity is the spirit of weakness and chronic conditions. Those attacked by this spirit are always suffering from one thing or the other in their bodies.
Luke 13:11 KJV — “And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.“
The spirit of the antichrist
The spirit of the antichrist is any spirit that fights anything Christian. This can even be a spirit of religion, it may proclaim God and church or anything; but simply hates Christ and true Christianity..
1 John 4:2-3 KJV — “Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: [3] and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.“
1 John 2:22-25 KJV — “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. [23] Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.”
[24] “Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. [25] And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.“
