Ephesians 6:10-20 KJV — Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. [11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; [15] and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
[16] above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: [18] praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
[19] and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, [20] for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
The Bible teaches clearly that though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh. Every one of us is involved in a battle and an invisible war. There are real forces that attempt to fight and maim us in many ways. We are confronted daily by principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places. They are fighting against us; we are at war and the battle is fierce. The worst part is the fact that the battle is an invisible one, against your career, family,money, peace, health etc. this is a battle we must fight and win at all cost.
I want to share four steps to winning with you. It is important to understand that spiritual warfare does not start with prayer and fasting. Rather you will win the invisible battle when you first;
- Strive to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might: You must fortify yourself. You must build strength in the Lord where you are planted.
- Build your defense system before engaging in an offensive campaign: Put on the whole armour of God. You need truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, and preparedness to preach the gospel.
- Build resilience: After you have done all to stand, stand to withstand! Don’t be a push over; resolve to withstand even an evil day. You must build resilience because the battle is a long haul.
- Engaging with the word of God, you must watch and pray with all prayer and supplication in the spirit always with perseverance: Watching and praying is the last thing to do in warfare. You need the word of God to guide your actions. The word of God must form the basis of what you believe. You ought to work hard and push strongly.
Remember that the steps to winning the invisible battles are: fortify yourself in the Lord, put on the whole armour, resolve to be resilient, and watch and pray with perseverance!
Benediction
May the Lord build you up to withstand darkness! May you see the hand of God prevails for you! May your eyes be enlightened to see reality! May you walk in the newness of life! Be strong!
