Genesis 1:26-28 KJV — And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
[27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. [28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
I have been trying to understand the purpose for life. Trying to understand why God created man. This is because it appeared to me like man was created to stress, pay bills, suffer and die and go. I have however discovered that far beyond that man was designed, created, and blessed to have dominion over the creeping things of the earth.
Man was created for this one purpose: to occupy the earth. In the scriptures above, God decided to create man in His own image and after His likeness to have dominion over all creeping things on the earth and in the sea. The mandate was and is and shall be to have dominion. We are born and even born again to occupy till He comes. This has been the mandate from the beginning. This is the will of God for man. You are created to occupy the earth and to have dominion.
The scripture above is the basis for Matthew 25:14-31, the ruler that was travelling to a far country gave talents to his servants and wanted them to occupy till he returns. That is the account of Luke. God wants each of us to take advantage of the blessing and dominate the creeping things of the earth.
It’s important to note from the text however that those who dominate the earth are those who by the blessing strive to be:
- Fruitful
- Multiply
- Replenish the earth, and
- Subdue it
These are the four results that will put you in charge. You cannot leave life to chance; you must be intentional about subduing the earth. You must be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth (refill what you use up), and subdue it. We have an assignment and a mandate to fulfill.
Life will not just happen, we must make it work and God will help us to make it work. This is the time to arise to have dominion. This is the time to subdue the creeping things of the earth. This is the time to be fruitful and multiply. You have a calling to replenish the earth. We will not fail but fulfill our purpose.
- Pray that God will help you to be fruitful and multiply: I command every barrenness and fruitlessness to leave your life. May the Lord cause you to be fruitful and multiply! May you never be fruitless!
- Pray that God will help you to replenish the earth: Receive grace to refill whatever you use. May the Lord empower you to take good care of what takes care of you! May you never struggle to replace what you spend through creativity and ingenuity!
- Pray that God will help you to subdue anything that tries to get out of order: receive the grace to take any unruly creeping thing, in the name of Jesus Christ! May you receive grace to continue and win over evil in the name of Jesus Christ!
