Song of Solomon 1:5-6 (KJV) — “I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon. Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother‘s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.”
One of the key factors that can make or unmake your goals and vision is the man you see when you stand in the mirror. If any man wants to change or influence the world, that change must start with the man in the mirror.
The greatest obstacle to your success is not external—it’s the man in the mirror. Don’t let keeping other people’s vineyard be more important to you than keeping your own. You will achieve far more when you focus on working on the man in the mirror.
7 things you can do to help the man in the mirror
- Renew the mind of the man in the mirror: Transformation happens by renewing your mind with the Word of God. See Romans 12:1-3
- Encourage and edify the man in the mirror: Pray more in tongues in your private prayers to build yourself up. Even when the going gets tough, encourage yourself in the Lord.
- Train the man in the mirror: Read, understudy, and learn through tutors, coaches, and mentors. The path to dominion begins with training and skill development.
- Possess the man in the mirror in honour: Learn to possess your vessel in honour and integrity. See 1 Thessalonians 4:4
- Subdue the man in the mirror: Discipline yourself and bring your body under subjection to avoid failure. See 1 Corinthians 9:27
- Speak positively to the man in the mirror: Avoid harsh words; speak life and encouragement to yourself. See 1 Peter 3:10
- Groom the man in the mirror: Remember, people see your outward appearance before they hear what you say or can do. Present yourself well.
This year, dedicate time and effort to work on the man in the mirror. Focus on self-discipline, self-growth, and aligning yourself with God’s Word. The man in the mirror holds the key to your success and breakthrough.
Let this year be a year of transformation and empowerment!
