One day Jesus Christ told a parable of a king that organized a wedding reception for his son. He invited many to the event, when everything was ready, he sent his servants to go call those who were invited to come but all made excuses. Some used their recent wedding as an excuse, others the yoke of oxens they had bought, others talked about the lands they had just purchased; the Lord had to instruct His servants to go the streets and lanes, as well as to the highways and hedges!
Luke 14:21-24 KJV — So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. [22] And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
[23] And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. [24] For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
I have come to find out that, those invited can’t fill the house, those in the streets and lanes can’t fill the house; if the house will be filled, we need to go to the highways and hedges. No church gets filled by people in and around the community where it is planted. We must arise and stretch a little. We must go the highways and hedges to bring the maimed and the halt. The lord instructed his servants to go to the highways and hedges. This is the time to take the risk and reach out the highways and hedges.
Evangelism is no longer a choice, it must become a lifestyle. God is counting on us to reach the nations and cities around us. This is the clarion call. God is calling us to reach the city and to fill his house. This house must be filled and we are the servants of God. The church must send or we end. We must arise and go to the highways and hedges. This is the time!
Most churches are empty because we are afraid to go to the highways and hedges to preach the gospel. Let us go to the schools and markets and compel people to come in. This is the time and now is the hour!

May the Lord release upon us the grace to reach the highways and hedges. May God send labourers into the field to both pray and labour! May we begin to reach out to places beyond our comfort zones and find people to come to the banquet of life!
