Colossians 3:16 – “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…”
In physics, mass is the measure of how much matter an object carries. Spiritually, it is the depth we have in Christ. The more of God’s Word, prayer, and fellowship you carry, the heavier you become in the Spirit.
A believer without mass is like a feather — easily blown about by every wind of doctrine, trial, or temptation. But when you have depth, you are stable and firm. Your faith is not shaken by circumstances, because you are rooted in Christ.
This is why Paul urged believers to let the Word of Christ dwell richly in them. To build spiritual mass, you must spend time with the Word, prayer, fasting, worship, and fellowship with the Spirit. Every verse you internalize, every hour in prayer, every moment in God’s presence adds spiritual weight to your life.
When you are full of God’s Word and Spirit, you are not easily moved. You become like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in every season (Psalm 1:3).
Prayer:
Father, increase my hunger for Your Word and prayer that I may gain true spiritual weight.
Reflection Questions:
- What spiritual practices help you build weight in God?
- Why do you think many Christians remain “light” in the Spirit?
- What can you do this week to increase your spiritual mass?
