Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. [18] For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off — Proverbs 23:17–18 (KJV)
The path of sinners may look attractive for a moment, but it ends in destruction. God’s children are called to live in reverence and trust in Him, knowing that there is a certain end for every path. Those who fear the Lord will find that their expectations in Him will never be cut off. Our hope in God is sure because it rests on His unfailing promises, not on fleeting worldly success.
- Guard your heart against envy: It is easy to look at the prosperity of sinners and feel left behind, but Scripture warns us to resist envy and keep our focus on God.
- Live in the fear of the Lord: Reverence for God must guide us daily, shaping our decisions and conduct.
- Remember there is an end: Every path has a destination. The way of sinners ends in destruction, but the way of the righteous leads to life.
- God honors expectation in Him: When our trust is in God, our hope is not in vain. His promises will surely come to pass in our lives.
Choose today to fix your eyes on God rather than on the fleeting pleasures of the world. Live in holy reverence before Him daily, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
