1 Timothy 4:14 KJV – “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
Every believer carries within them a divine deposit, an ability, grace, or calling that God has entrusted for His glory and the blessing of others. Paul’s charge to Timothy was not just for a young pastor in the early church; it is also a call to every child of God today. The gifts of God are not given for decoration or for hiding, but for demonstration. They are meant to be stirred, exercised, and multiplied.
Neglect comes when we let fear, excuses, busyness, or comparison bury what God has put in us. But the kingdom advances when men and women rise to recognize, honor, and use the gifts God has placed in them. The gift in you may be teaching, serving, encouraging, giving, interceding, leading, or ministering in other Spirit-empowered ways. When you silence it, the body of Christ lacks something vital. When you activate it, heaven rejoices and lives are changed.
Beloved, don’t wait for a perfect season to arise. The world is in need of what God has placed in you. Fan into flame the gift of God, through prayer, study, obedience, and bold action. Remember, what you steward well will grow, and what you neglect will fade. Today, choose to shine where God has planted you.
Do not bury the gift God has entrusted to you. Take one step today to exercise it, by encouraging someone, serving in your church, sharing the gospel, or using your skills to bless others.
Prayer Points:
- Lord, open my eyes to clearly recognize the gifts You have placed in me.
- Father, forgive me for every way I have neglected Your deposit in my life.
- Holy Spirit, stir up fresh passion, boldness, and wisdom to use my gifts for Your glory.
- Lord, let my gift make room for me and impact lives for Your kingdom.
Amen
