1 Corinthians 14:20 (KJV) – “Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.”
God is calling His people to grow up, not in bitterness, offense, or cunning behavior, but in wisdom, discernment, and spiritual insight. Too many remain sharp in malice yet shallow in understanding; quick to take offense, quick to judge, and slow to perceive truth.
The apostle Paul makes it clear: immaturity in understanding keeps a believer unstable, easily deceived, and ineffective. Yet when it comes to malice, anger, jealousy, strife, we are commanded to remain like innocent children, refusing to entertain or nurture such things.
True spiritual maturity is not measured by how long you’ve been in the faith, but by how deeply you understand God’s ways and how little room you give to negativity.
Action Steps
Make a deliberate decision to grow your understanding daily. Commit yourself to studying the Word, seeking wisdom, and asking the Holy Spirit for insight in all things.
At the same time, starve every form of malice, refuse to hold grudges, reject gossip, and walk away from strife. When offense comes, choose innocence over reaction.
When confusion arises, pursue clarity through God’s truth. Grow up where it matters, and stay childlike where it protects your heart. That is how you become both spiritually strong and spiritually pure.
