To war according to prophecy is to fight against anything that the Bible frowns on and to fight for anything the Bible sanctions (Rhema).
[1 Timothy 1:18 KJV] “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;”
The apostle Paul is exhorting Timothy to war according to prophecy so that he will fight with direction and not beat the air. For instance, when the children of Israel got to the land of Edom ass they traveled from Egypt, they were prophetically taught to buy both food and water. Daniel was directed to war for the deliverance of his people. This warfare was supposed to be according to prophecy.
Warring according to prophecy helps you to choose your battles right. It helps you to know what to engage and what to ignore.
The following secrets will help you to war according to prophecy;
1. Hear and understand the prophecy:
What have you heard from God in the last five years and how many of those things are you still pursuing. Many of us are not winning in the good fight of faith because we are not hearing and understanding what God is saying. I pray for understanding for you. I pray that you will hear God for yourself and win the war of faith.
For instance, Joseph was guided by only one prophecy that came to him through a dream. Our father, Abraham, lived all of his life on one word from God. King David also had only one word. You don’t need more than a word from God. You must just keep fighting and waiting for the manifestation of God’s good word to you.
2. Hide and meditate on the prophecy in your heart:
Mary hid all the things she heard concerning Jesus in her heart. She did not forget the prophecy, she kept meditating on the prophecy. You must always remember the prophecy. Every prophecy or vision you receive must be written down and read always until it fulfills. The Lord told Habakkuk to write the vision upon tables to remind those who pass by and read it.
3. Allow the Gardener to uproot anything that can weaken your conviction in the Word:
In John 15, the husbandman prunes the branches for more fruits. In Luke 13, the gardener said he will dig around and dung the fig tree. We also know that lusts, cares, anxieties, the pride of life and deceitfulness of riches choke the faith and conviction or people who hear the Word.
Therefore, we should allow the gardener to uproot anything that is not planted by God and can choke our conviction.
4. You must honestly, and patiently run with the word even in difficult times:
Many good things don’t happen in a flash. To war by prophecy will require that you war with patience and faith. You need stamina to war by prophecy.
I prophesy over your life that you will not fail. You will run and not be weary, you will press on, and reach forth, and arrive.
