[Proverbs 26:20 KJV] “Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.”
We live in an age and time full of mischief and malice. People will publish and spread anything at all without first thinking about its impact on unsuspecting readers. We can do better, by simply being careful about what we both read and spread. I want to therefore exhort you on important questions to ask before spreading or sharing any information.
In 2 Samuel 1, we read about how Saul and Jonathan died. We see extreme loyalty displayed by King David. He did not just slay the man who reported the death but also charged the people not to spread the word in Gaza or Ashkelon. We must refrain from sharing false information.
[2 Samuel 1:20 KJV] “Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Ashkelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.”
(Please read the whole of 2 Samuel 1)
So, the simple questions to answer before spreading any word are:
- Who made it
- What is the source of the information and Where did it come from
- When and why was it published
- Why are you sharing this
There are times when people are saying things but have an ulterior motive. You must beware that almost everyone speaking has something to gain.
Stay blessed, I love you!
