I will be speaking to you today about pride. This is because there are times when we take certain little things for granted, and yet many get destroyed by these same little things. Pride is one of the very little things that can derail and ditch a great destiny.
[Proverbs 29:23 KJV] “A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit”.
Motivation
So today, I exhort you to beware of pride, it kills and disgraces. The pathetic reality is the fact that many proud people are unaware that they are proud; hence the need to speak on the subject.
Discussion
The scriptures warn us to beware of pride. In fact, we must beware of proud people because they are;
- Contentious
- Intolerant towards the weaknesses of others
- Easily offended
- Self conceited
This beast called pride can destroy any man or woman. Pride heralds failure and mars the beauty of greatness. It is important to do all in your power to avoid it for the following reasons;
1. God resists the proud:
All that the devil needs to do to destroy you is to make you proud. He does not have to jump or spin, once you allow pride into your life, God Himself will resist you. The Bible tells us that “… he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble” (James 4:6 KJV). The humble will always find grace with God but the proud will be resisted.
2. Pride comes before destruction:
Whenever you sense pride in your own heart, remember that you are going down. There is no more sure way downhill than pride, it is a dangerous and an easy way out. The Bible says that “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall” [Proverbs 16:18 KJV]. To heed the call to remain humble is to heed the call to find help. The humble shall rise and rise again but the proud will be destroyed, beware!
3. Those lifted with pride fall into the condemnation of the devil;
The devil was condemned because of pride and you will be no different. This is the reason why God will not have a novice be made a pastor. Many of them cannot handle the honour that the calling and office bestows on them; hence they get destroyed and condemned. The scriptures exhorts that a pastor must not be a novice, “lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil” (1 Timothy 3:6)”
Pride is a snare for many young people. Many are getting trapped and I pray that you will come out and not be trapped.
I have seen many get destroyed and trapped in condemnation because they are too proud. I pray that the gracious God will redeem you from the sin and snare of pride.
Be blessed; I love you!
