How to Command the Respect of Your Boss

How to Command the Respect of Your Boss

The days of complaining about a hostile or difficult boss or superior must be over. In this study we want to learn about three or four simple keys to command the respect of your boss;

[1 Samuel 18:1‭-‬16 KJV]“And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.

And David went out whithersoever Saul sent him, and behaved himself wisely: and Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people, and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.

And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands. And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom? And Saul eyed David from that day and forward. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

And Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, and was departed from Saul. Therefore Saul removed him from him, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the Lord was with him.

Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him. But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them”.

Prepare adequately for your interview:

Manypeople commanding the respect and honour of their superiors earn that right from the first interview. People who display a great persona, mental aptitude and understanding at their interviews earn the admiration of their bosses and superiors.

Go wherever you are sent and behave yourself wisely:

David earned the respect and admiration of the king and all his men because he ran the errands of the king and behaved himself wisely. David did not do his private jobs at the office. Don’t use your organisations resources to do your private jobs. David gave his all to the king. Don’t represent yourself, represent your boss or superior. Go where you are sent and not where you want.

Don’t let the women sing your praises:

The worst mistake David ever did in all of his career life was to dance to the singing of the women. You will earn your boss’s respect when you dedicate all your achievements and all you have become to your boss. You must deliberately and unconciously acknowledge your boss in all you achievements. Indeed, your boss is a way maker. You earn the respect and love of your boss if you geniunely acknowledge his immense contribution to your success and achievements. Indeed, Saul was a great mentor and father to David. It was a mistake that David recieved the praise of the women.

Many people after a few achievements begin to grow horns and behave like goat. Many people begin to take their waymakers for granted, after a little success.

Cultivate the presence of the Lord and behave yourself wisely:

David was anointed and he intentionally cultivated the presence of God. The Lord was with him and he behaved himself wisely in all of his ways.

The anointing plays a major role in earming the respect of your boss but it is not enough to recieve the supernatural fusion. You must also behave yourself wisely. We learn from the story of David that the Lord was with him and he behaved himself wisely.

Wisdom is one of the greatest master keys that many have thrown away and made a shipwreck of their faith. Christ Jesus is both the power and the wisdom of God. We must not just move in the supernatural but also in great wisdom. As we tarry in His presence and wait on Him, He will teach us His ways and make us wise.

Don’t change even if your boss changes:

Though Saul tried to harm David on two occassions, David did not change. You will notice that he continued to behave himself wisely; and although Saul hated him, the king still promoted him. I pray that you can learn this wisdom.

You will earn the respect and admiration of our bosses and superiors when we engage these wisdom keys.

Stay blessed, I love you.
