2 Corinthians 10:3-7 KJV — “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: [4] (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) [5] casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
[6] “and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. [7] Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.“
The Apostle Paul, in this teaching, is calling our attention to the fact that the world in which we live and order our lives, is unprincipled and unfair. It’s a rat race and a dog-eat-dog world out there. It’s too dangerous to step out there with a simple mind.
The apostle is stating clearly that the world does not fight fairly. Life is not not fair but we cannot live and fight as the world does. We must therefore engage the weapons of war which can:
- Demolish the largely corrupt culture (fleshy appeal)
- Smash warped philosophies
- Tear down barriers erected against God’s truth
- Encourage men to fit their loose thoughts, emotions, and impulses into the structure of life shaped by Christ
Apostle Paul is teaching that most of the things happening around you are mind games. Many of the things are fleshy games of manipulations and marketing; but we can follow on such a tangent or path. We are higher than mind games and marketing and manipulations; hence the need to engage higher aids and helps like:
- Truth and grace
- Anionting
- Obedience and authority.
We must use higher weapons and tools of truth and grace, unction, dominion and obedience. I pray that as we step into the next season, we shall walk wisely and with circumspection. May God help you!
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 MSG — “The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.“
If we want to command victory over Strongholds, thoughts and imaginations; then we must:
1. Seek the truth
You shall know the truth and the truth shall liberate you. When you get to know the truth, you are not moved by the manipulations of vanity.
2. Seek to be anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power
Acts 10:38 reveals that the Lord was able to go about to do good and heal those vexed by devils because He was anointed.
2. Be as wise as serpents
In Luke 10, the Lord admonished the apostles to be as wise as serpents. Wisdom matters in navigating these waters called life.
3. Love not the world nor anything in it.
Many of the things in the word are vanity and a carefully designed bait to trap you.
