[Genesis 1:26 KJV] “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth”
One of the key reasons for your creation from the beginning is for you to have dominion over every creeping thing. You were created to have dominion over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. If you care to know, there are things that creep upon the face of the earth. Some are natural but others supernatural!
Nothing destroys a family, church, or a generation more than what we allow to creep in. Creeping things are things that subtly try to infiltrate the ranks of a generation. We will excel when we learn to master the art of having dominion over creeping things.
Common creeping things that may destroy the church, a family or a generation are;
- 1. Men with a contrary purpose and agenda
- Hollow philosophies and doctrine of devils
- Behaviour we have not learn of Christ
- Attitudes of pride, carnality and arrogance
- Trends, fads, and fashion that promote promiscuity
- Arrogant answer
Sometimes, men creep in unawares. Apostle Jude warned the church in his letter to beware of men who have crept in unawares and how to deal with them (See Jude1:1-23). If we are not vigilant as a church, dangerous men and women will creeping and spread sin and lies. There are times when ravenous wolves arise among us and devour the flock.
The second thing that could easily creep in and destroy a church is bad behaviour and attitudes (See Ezekiel 23). Bad behaviour or attitude can spread like wild fire in a church, nations, or generation when allowed. We must tame it (See Ephesians 4:17-31). That is when we must stwrnly rebuke an elder that sins, to send a strong message to others.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
[1 Timothy 5:17-21 KJV] “For the Scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.”
“Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear. I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality”
The third thing we must guard against are hollow philosophies, doctrines of devils, and heresies. These things spread so quickly and overthrow the faith of many. We must arise and stop the mouth of naysayers and proponents of heresies. Their words are like gangrene, it eats up the flesh of faith.
[2 Timothy 2:16-18 KJV] “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus; who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.”
The Bible warns us to be careful lest another spoil us with hollow philosophies taught by men. Heresies affects many.
[Colossians 2:8 KJV] “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
Let us be careful of any thing that anyone tries to introduce to the church or family or generation. Don’t allow anyone to teach evil.
The early church failed because they allowed Jezebel to masquerade as a prophetess and teach the ministers how to commit sexual sins and eat food sacrificed to idols; they allowed Balaam to teach idolatry and permitted those who hold the doctrine of the Nicoliatans to thrive.
We must not allow anything into the church which is not of Christ. Be vigilant and stop the mouth of those gainsayers. This is the time to have dominion over creeping things.
Stay blessed
