[1 Thessalonians 5:20 KJV] “Despise not prophesyings”
Prophesying or speaking by inspiration is one of the greatest gift of the Holy Spirit to the church. This is the divine gift by which mortal men and woman inspiried by the Holy Spirit can speak of the future. This is one gift that helps us to buy into a future we are yet to step into.
Inasmuch as it is true that we know in part and prophesy in part; it is safe not to despise prophesyings. The prophet may not always be accurate because of the interference of the flesh, but you will do well if you learn to respect and honour prophesying.
It is safer to hear, heed, judge, and war good a warfare by prophecy than to despise it. Those who despise prophecy often get hurt. I want to exhort you to pay attention to all inspired utterances, judge them critically, and act on the godly ones.
Many people have been hurt because they despised prophesying. Adam and the whole of the human race have been hurt because he despised the prophecy God gave him about the repercussions of eating the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Cain was hurt because he did not heed the warnings that God gave him about sin crouching at his door. I pray that none of us will despise prophesyings!
Prayer
Pray that the Lord will give you ears that can hear what the spirit is saying to the church, and give you a heart that can honour the instructions of the spirit! Pray that you will honour prophesyings and never be hurt! AMEN!
Stay blessed!
