Exercise Yourself unto Godliness!

I want to exhort you today to exercise yourself unto godliness. That is to say, train yourself to be more godly. Get into routines that make you more godly and ready to live the “God-kind-of-life“. Train yourself to live more godly and in the fear of the Lord.

This is because those who focus on training themselves unto godliness and the “God-kind-of-life” have the added advantage of also being in shape physically. So the Apostle said, “although bodily exercise profit; those who exercise themselves unto godliness get the maximum benefit; not just in this life but in the one to come.”

[1 Timothy 4:7‭-‬8 KJV] “But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”

Apostle Paul cautions that there are so many stories and fables being told, but without doubt, those who focus on exercising themselves unto godliness also have the full benefit of bodily exercise.

Exercise yourself unto godliness until you can act like God!

What does it mean to exercise yourself?

To exercise yourself in anything is to practice. To exercise oneself unto godliness is to show that outwardexpressionof an inward work of God’s grace that empowers us to walk in the authority we should exercise as sons and daughters of the King of Kings. It is actually to practice and train to live as God would.

To exercise yourself unto godliness will require the following;

1. Constant prayer in the Holy Ghost:

He that prays in an unknown tongue edifies himself. As you learn to speak in a language you don’t understand, yet trusting that God hears you and will answer, is a great exercise of faith. You must pray constantly in the Holy Ghost. This grooms your spirit and prepares you for godliness.

2. Singing constantly in tongues and with understanding:

Your singing and worship are so valuable to God. Your worship is needed. We cannot do otherwise.

3. Fasting and waiting on God:

We must train ourselves not to live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. We must train ourselves to discover the power of the secret place.

Exercise yourself unto godliness until you can act like God!

4. Speaking with the accent of God:

We must train ourselves to speak as God would speak; calling the things that be not as though they were; speaking of things that are yet to be done. We must train ourselves to speak by faith until speaking by faith becomes as natural as speaking by sight.

5. Loving and reaching out as God:

Forgiving and sparing people as God would. We must train ourselves to do things only God can do. Another example is calling the things that be not as though they are.

6. Memorising Scriptures:

These are simple but effective tools to win in the war of life and for success.

It is important to state that exercising yourself unto godliness is to exercise yourself unto godliness until you can act like God. Think and meditate on this. You must train in godliness as athletes train for a contest. They train to build stamina and skills to win. Exercise yourself until you have what it takes to win.

My book Steps to Total Victory will help you to exercise yourself unto godliness
