The Bible teaches us that the old covenant or testament is a shadow of things to come; that is to say that things that happened under the old covenant were all pointing to a certain reality in the future which we live in now.
[Colossians 2:13-19 KJV] “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.”
It is important, therefore, to note that one of the major feature of all worship since the foundation of the human race is the shedding of blood. Almost every generation of worshippers understands the use of blood in the realms of the spirit. Whether among the heathen or the jews, blood and sacrifice are noted to have a great value in the realms of the unseen and the spirit.
The second truth to point out is the fact that all spiritually minded people are aware of things like curses, bad omen, negative emotions, negative energy, bad luck, bad day, nemesis, babes, etc. We may not call it the same names for want of vocabulary or just to sound different, but we all know that there are forces and events that work against good desires and success. Sometimes, these things are the sheer work of witches and wizards, but at other times it is as a result of our poor choices and wickedness that we or our predecessors have perpetrated against others.
It is important to, therefore, impact you with the fact and truth that inasmuch as I believe that all things are purged by blood; there is only one blood that can thoroughly purge all things and break the effects and manifestations of every vengeance, curses, spells, hex, or bad omen; and that blood is the blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God. In all practices of worship and faith and religion, there is the need to shed blood every time there is the need to purge people, places, or things. But in the practice of our faith, we have a high priest who entered into the Holy of Holies once and for all. He shed His blood by an Eternal Spirit once and for all that we and all who believe should be purged.
By His blood we were enjoined to God in a covenant:
Hebrews 9:19-28 teaches that even after the pattern of what Moses did, so did Christ by His precious blood. Moses purged the people and sealed the first covenant by the blood of calves and goats, but Jesus Christ did the same by His own blood. This is because without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins. Indeed, what we needed was not just forgiveness of sins but also the remission of sins.
For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Hebrews 9:19-28 KJV
His blood purified and purged our sins, flesh, and conscience:
This He did to give us the goodness and confidence to come to the Father in prayer. He purged our flesh to make us clean, and our conscience to give us the confidence and boldness to approach God.
This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:16-22 KJV
His blood redeems us:
Listen! There are many who are washed, purged, and empowered but still in prison because they have not been redeemed. It is possible to be granted bail but still be held by the police or prison warden because you have not met the bail conditions. That does not mean you can’t bath or know that you are granted bail. The Lord has done more! He did not just secure our bail, nor wash us with His blood for acquittal, but He provided the bail conditions. We have redemption by that same blood. We are redeemed, liberated, and freed by that same blood.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Colossians 1:14 KJV
I am redeemed of the Lord! Can you shout it! I am redeemed of the Lord, I am not under a curse!
By this same blood, we overcome all evil forces that come against us:
Hallelujah! As in Revelation 12, we also overcome the forces of evil by the blood.
The blood makes advocacy for us:
The blood of Jesus speaks better things than that of Abel. The blood is a key feature in all practices of faith and religion.
Stay blessed, I love you
