2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NLT — We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. [4] We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.
[5] We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
A giant in life is a formidable adversary that challenges and defies your strength. Giants in life mock your testimony and dare you to prove your strength. Gaints in life are situations that seem to mock and taunt you consistently and for a protracted time.
The Bible tells a classical story of dealing with giants in 1 Samuel 17. It is important to understand that the Bible is divided into books and chapters. One of such books is first Samuel, which talks about the kings of Israel and their reigns. We find a classical example of dealing with giants in the life of David at a time when Saul was king; he fought and defeated a giant called Goliath. We understand that David was just a youth and was ruddy, and e withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to but Goliath was a giant and experienced in life. Goliath had been a fighter all his life and had been mocking Israel for days; until David appeared on the scene.
Every man at the battlegrounds that day was running away from him; but a little boy, a youth that had been trained by God in the wilderness emerged to challenge Goliath. David had been in the wilderness with his father’s sheep. His fingers had been trained to fight and his arm to war. This youth had gathered enough experience and trained himself to face life and its challenges.
I don’t know and can’t fully understand what you are facing in life. I may never be able to fully comprehend what you are going through but I am sure of one thing; giants do fall, the bigger they are the harder they fall. You must face your giants and see them fall!
If you really want to face and defeat giants:
- Allow God to train your fingers to fight and arms to war. Before David faced Goliath, he had fought bears and lions! Exercise yourself daily unto godliness!
- Take time to understand the problems and the rewards that come with solving the problem. You must fight for a godly cause; fight the good fight of faith. When David was accused of being bloody; he was quick to point to the cause justifying his actions.
- Use weapons and technology that you have proven in the past. David used what he had proven not what was in vogue. Though Saul was willing to give him, his armour, David declined because he had not proven them.
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not on your own understanding. There are spiritual causes and forces behind many giants; you need to face them from a dimension of the Spirit.
